AUTUMN FLOWER SHOW
to be held in the CE PRIMARY SCHOOL at 2.30 p.m. on
SATURDAY 11th SEPTEMBER

Members with smaller gardens have a restricted choice of vegetables. Members are asked to use their discretion and, if able, to enter Class 1 not to enter Class 2.
VEGETABLES – see Page 6 for notes on staging. Collections: Each vegetable will be awarded points out of 10 for presentation, uniformity, size, shape and colour.
- A Collection of Vegetables, 5 distinct kinds. See Page 8 and 9 for number for each kind required
- A Collection of Vegetables, 4 distinct kinds. One of each kind only. Parsley allowed for garnish
- 5 Carrots.
- 5 Potatoes, one variety
- 5 Runner Beans
- 3 Leeks (tops to be cut to a point and tied)
- 5 Onions
- 3 Beetroot
- 3 Courgettes (not more than 15cm/6″ long)
- 5 Tomatoes, outdoor – 1 variety
- 5 Tomatoes, grown under glass – 1 variety
- 5 Tomatoes, small fruited variety, max. diameter 3.8cm/1½”
- 10 Shallots
- Any other Vegetable (See P8 and 9 for quantities) – maximum of 2 entries per exhibitor allowed – See Show Rule 9 on p.5
- A herb plant growing in a pot maximum size 6”/15 cm diameter
- The Ugliest Vegetable
- Potatoes grown in a Bucket – not more than 3 gallons/13.8 litres. Collect Potatoes at the Spring Show (not if it is a Virtual show). A) Adults B) Juniors – under 15
Tops of root vegetables should be trimmed and tied, preferably with raffia, otherwise with natural coloured string.
FRUIT (plates provided)
- 4 Cooking Apples – one variety
- 4 Dessert Apples – one variety
- Plate any other outdoor fruit (See P9 for quantities) – maximum of 2 entries per exhibitor allowed – See Show Rule 9
- Plate any other fruit grown under glass (See P9 for quantities) – maximum of 2 entries per exhibitor allowed – See Show Rule 9
FLOWERS
- 3 blooms of any Dahlia, one or more varieties.
- 3 blooms of Chrysanthemums, one or more varieties.
- 3 stems of Asters or Michaelmas Daisies, one or more varieties.
- 1 Rose with own foliage – no buds
- Mixed flowers from the garden in Own Vase – To be judged on quality and number of blooms.
- One stem of flowering shrub in Own Jam Jar – NOT Fuchsia
- 3 stems of any other Autumn Garden Flower, one or more varieties. In Own Vase not more than 23cm/9” diameter.
- 1 stem of Fuchsia – any variety – Own Jam Jar
FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS (Materials need not be grown by the Exhibitor)
- An Autumn Arrangement (may include flowers, foliage, berries and fruits), space allowed 45cm x 45cm x 45cm
- “Alice in Wonderland”, space allowed 45cm x 45cm x 45 cm
COOKERY (special covers are provided for all classes except Classes 33 and 37)
- Vegetable or Vegetarian Quiche – own recipe to be displayed
- A Jar of Jelly – no named commercial lids and no wax covers with screw lids
- Cut and Come Again Cake – recipe provided P27
- Apple Crumble, to serve maximum of 4 people – own recipe
- Mince Pie cupcakes – recipe provided P28
- JUNIOR COOKERY CLASS – A gingerbread biscuit shaped like a leaf or pumpkin and decorated for Autumn – own recipe.
